ReplyDeleteHi Ms.Muhl this is Noah from homeroom. A text to text connection I made was in newspapers you hear of people getting made fun of for their skin color. In this story it is a lot worse it's not just people getting made fun of. They vacated the school,they had riots,it was a lot worse than getting made fun of.The text to self connection I made was that I've been made fun of for dumb things that don't matter like one time a kid said my socks look weird. The text to world connection I made was all over the world you listen to things about racism in the news and stuff but like Ruby Bridges said,"You can't judge someone by their skin color."

Text to Self - I have gotten made fun of before for something not my skin but if really hurt my feeling and when i went somewhere specific i felt good about my self.
Text to World - Some people are very Rude to Negros by being racist and it just is not right and some negros feel the same way Ruby did but not exactly the same.

Text to self I have seen people be mean to people because there race in Alabama. I have also seen people do that in the movie and the book.
Text to world I knew how they were mean to colored people by not letting them play football as well
Hi this is Alex from homeroom and I think that my text to text connection when I looked in the Through My Eyes book I saw a picture that remined me of the movie and I do not think that someoe should be judged by the color of their skin. And another thing that I thought was bad was that they through stuff at her and I think that is just wrong.

I watched the Ruby Bridges video and text to self connection is when the people protested for Ruby to not go to school, It reminds me of when people are in large mobs for politics. My text to world connection was why do people want to hurt a poor little innocent girl, who is just going about her life?? If I were Ruby, I wouldn't want people harrassing me just because of the color of my skin. I like what Hannah said today at the end of class. Text to Text connection was Other people you see in books or TFK magazines, have people getting judged just by the color of their skin. I think that is absoluteley WRONG.

I made a text to self connection:i think that its incredibly courageous for ruby to go to an all white school. honestly i wouldn't of done that, its incredible how people treated ruby just because the color of her skin its not like they're any different from us

A real text connections takes the text and relates it to another totally different place but the same idea or connection can be made because your your thoughts about it while you were reading or after you pondered it when you are done.

ReplyDeleteHi Ms.Muhl this is Ying and I made a text to self connection...If I was Ruby I would be really scare to go to a white people's school because I think it would be really scarey to be the only color person in the school. Also I don't think it is fair that they treated her like that cause I am pretty sure non of them would want to be treated like that they should put them self in Ruby's shoes and see how it feels.

DeleteI would agree with you and I think when that lady was screaming at Ruby that she was gonna hang her.. If I were Ruby I would probably throw my tin lunch box at her and that's my text to self connection. And I would agree that they should put them selves in Ruby's shoes and see how they feel. I also didn't know that Ruby has four kids and is married.My text to text connection is that in the movie the marshals escort Ruby to school and they also do in the book. My text to world connection is that all over the world even in our school people are bullied although in the book and movie it's way worse!!!!!!!!
I am not sure that at first Ruby understood that they were all there yelling at her until later, at first she thought they were at a parade or at Mardi Gras...

ReplyDeleteHi it's Henry from Mr.Stoner's class. It is terrible that the people treated ruby like that just because of her skin color. It would be so stressful with the marshals surounding you while people try to take you.I would never be able to take that stress.

I watched the Ruby Bridges video and a text to world connection that I made was kids on the news who were getting made fun of how they looked, and on the movie she gets called names because of her color. My text to self connection is she had a really nice teacher, and in kindergarten I had a really nice teacher. Finally my text to text connection is in the book it said that the guards took her to school, and in the movie the guards took her to school.

Anyways my text to text connection is the Through My Eyes book is almost the same thing as the videos I wonder how they got a girl who looked so much like the real Ruby in the pictures! My text to world connection is that the protestors were basically repeating the Civil War except instead of violence the people cussed and threatened Ruby I mean seriously she was only 6! Lastly my text to self connection is I have two little cousins and they are dark skinned and it would be horrible to watch them to go through what Ruby had to go through especially from a parent's view watching your 6 year old go through what Ruby had to it is really sad:(

Text to Text- Ruby's story reminds me a lot of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He risked his life to do whats right, so did Ruby.
Text to World- It's so inspiring that one little girl changed the fate of African Americans going to an all-white school.

ReplyDeleteHI Ms.Muhl it's Matthew from Mr.Stoner's class.I red the speech and my text to text is I red a book when a guy changed his community by helping other people that didn't like him but he still helped them then other people started doing that. My text to self is when I was in third grade a kid in my class started to help other kids do things on their papers if they didn't know how to do it then other people started doing that. My text to world is when Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I have a dream speech" ever since then the U.S.A. hasn't been the same.

ReplyDeleteRuby's story was inspirational and her mom was brave and so was her dad. I believe her mom was more brave than her dad because her dad was unsure and afraid, but her mom was positive she should go to school at Frantz Elementary. Ruby struggles because everyone was screaming rude things at and about her just because of her color.
